Great skin shouldn’t depend on how much you can spend. Beauty On a Budget Lab exists to help you find skincare that actually works, at prices that make sense.

Why this site exists

Skincare has never been more confusing. Every week there’s a new “miracle” serum, an influencer routine with twelve steps, and a luxury cream that costs more than a week of groceries. Meanwhile, some of the most effective products ever made sit on drugstore shelves for a fraction of the price.

We started Beauty On a Budget Lab to cut through that noise. Our goal is simple: match you with affordable products that suit your skin type, and be honest about what each one can and can’t do.

How we choose products

• Ingredients first. We look at what’s in the bottle, such as ceramides, niacinamide, retinoids and sunscreen filters, rather than what’s printed on the front.
• Budget-friendly by default. Most of our picks are drugstore prices. When we include a splurge, we explain why it might be worth it and suggest a cheaper alternative.
• Real pros and cons. Every product has downsides. We list them, so you can decide what matters for your skin.
• Organized by skin type. Oily, dry, combination and sensitive skin need different things, so our guides are built around them.

What we’re not

We’re not dermatologists, and nothing on this site is medical advice. We do our homework on ingredients and research, and we always recommend seeing a dermatologist for persistent skin conditions, severe acne or any reaction that doesn’t settle.
